John Quinn

Professional Experience:

Jack recently retired from Armstrong Teasdale where he was a lead trial lawyer on a wide variety of cases for more than 40 years. Significant trial work in many areas including personal injury cases, toxic torts, FELA, intellectual property litigation, business and commercial litigation, non-compete litigation, employment law and general civil practice. In 1999, he was awarded the Number One Defense Verdict in Missouri, and he was on the other side of a large plaintiff verdict in lead exposure cases. Although many of his case were on the defense side, he handled a number of major plaintiff cases while at Armstrong Teasdale, including a reverse confusion case against the NBA over the trademark Dream Team, a nuisance case on behalf of farmers neighboring large hog farms in northwest Missouri, aviation accident cases against Beech Aircraft, and he recently obtained a verdict in an appointed class action case on behalf of civilly committed men in Missouri. His experiences in these cases, and many others that were settled in mediation, has given him a unique, first-hand experience of the values of settlement and the pitfalls in hard-fought litigation. He also understands the role a mediator plays in assisting opposing trial counsel to both advocate but also reach reasonable settlements. Candor, objectivity and flexibility are key factors Jack brings to the mediation table. Undergraduate degree: University of Missouri-Columbia; master’s degree; Harvard University in 1972; law degree: University of Virginia Law School 1975. He has practiced in all of the local state courts as well in federal courts in Missouri and elsewhere. He is a past president of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers and has served on the Board of Editors for Missouri Lawyers Weekly. Community activities include board membership and an officer of the Sheldon Arts Foundation.
